At Special Olympics Queensland

You're very Welcome...

In taking time to visit and navigate through the Special Olympics Queensland website, you will be introduced to a wonderfully exciting and unstoppable world-wide movement that could change your life for ever and for the better.

Special Olympics Queensland Incorporated aims to increase community awareness of the fact that people with an intellectual disability have a right to be accepted and appreciated - and must be permitted to take their rightful place as members of society.

Special Olympics concentrates strongly on an athlete's many abilities and not on the fact that he or she may have an intellectual disability.

To learn more about Special Olympics Queensland, click on any of the links to the left and above and find out just what can be accomplished by those with an intellectual disability.

Our athletes are truly inspirational. Come along and see for yourself.

Special Olympics Queensland is deeply honoured to have the Governor of Queensland, Ms Quentin Bryce AC as the Patron of our organisation, and we thank the Governor for her keen interest in, and support for, our organisation.

2007 was a big year for Special Olympics, with the World Games being held in Shanghai, China and State Games being held in each sport, as well as all the usual training sessions and competitions.

Special Olympics Queensland organises year-round sports training and competition for people with an intellectual disability.

Activities for 2008 will be listed in our calendar very soon and we look forward to yet another big year for SOQ and our athletes.

We would be extremely grateful if you would like to make a donation to assist us with our work - please send your cheque to:

Mr Keith Brown
State Secretary

We also take this opportunity to thank all of our on-going sponsors for their continued support. Such wonderful support is gratefully acknowledged and very much appreciated.

The UCI/Special Olympics Queensland

CHARITY GOLF DAY

held on Friday 6th June 2008

was a huge success

Thank you to all involved, whether organisers, players, volunteers of Special Olympics, invited guests or staff of Indooroopilly Golf Club.

It was just a magnificent day and raised approximately $22,000 for such a great cause.

This has been the fourth annual Charity Golf Day organised by UCI to benefit SOQ, and each one has been bigger and better than its predecessor.

SOQ sincerely thanks everyone for their support and we hope to see you all again next year.

Photos available - thanks to Pat Willett
